The group ballot for the Women’s U19 World Floorball Championships 2024 was holded today during the Nordic Challenge event in Finland. All 16 participating countries have been set into groups A, B, C and D.
In group A are Switzerland, Czechia, Latvia and Slovakia. Let’s get to know more about the countries and their history in floorball.
The Swiss floorball association was founded April 20, 1985 in Sarnen. Switzerland has been one of the countries who have founded the International Floorball Federation in the year 1986. In the last U19 WFC event in Katowice Poland, Switzerland placed fourth and forward player Anja Wyss, SUI #8 got elected to the All-Star Team. In their history of U19 WFC competitions, team Switzerland has won the Championship and silver medal both once and the bronze medal three times.
The Czech Floorball association was founded in 1992 and a year after they became an IFF member. In the last U19 WFC in Katowice, Poland, team Czechia finished on the second place, while the championship was very close by competing against team Sweden with the result 5-4 ps. Goal keeper Monika Solleova, CZE #91 got elected to the All-Star Team. In their history team Czechia has won silver medal once and bronze four times in U19 WFC competitions.
The Latvian Floorball association was founded in 1993 and they became an IFF member country a year after. Latvia has organized 11 international Floorball events in its history. In the last U19 WFC tournament in Katowise, Poland, Latvia ended up in 8th place.
The Slovakia’s Floorball association was founded in 1998 a year after they became an IFF member. There are 91 licensed Floorball clubs in Slovakia. In the last U19 WFC tournament in Katowice Poland team Slovak played in 5th place.
