The U19 Women’s World Championships will take place from 8th to 12th May in Sports and Fair Centre in Lahti. This article combines all the information of the tournament.

TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW AND THE GROUPS

A total of 16 countries will participate in the U19 Women’s World Championships, divided into four groups. The group ball took place in October 2023 at the Nordic Challenge event in Vantaa, Finland.

Group A: Switzerland, Czechia, Latvia, Slovakia

Group B: Sweden, Finland, Norway, Poland

Group C: Germany, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia

Group D: Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Canada

TICKETS

Various types of different tickets and ticket packages are available for purchase in order for you to find the right fit for you. When buying a ticket, you have free entrance to all matches during the day in both Arena A and B. Lahti Sports and Fair Centre is filled with the atmosphere of joy and fun during the event, and there is something to do for the whole family all day long.

ACTIVITIES

In addition to top matches, there are also many other activities and daily changing programs from School Day to Family Day and from Sport Club Day to the 3v3 World Championships. Read more here.

WED 8.5. SCHOOL DAY AND OPENING CEREMONY

The opening day and atmosphere will be full of joy as children and youth from the Lahti area get to cheer on teams from around the world. In addition to School Day, there will be a 3v3 tournament between University students and the opening ceremony of the U19 World Championships.

THU 9.5. FAMILY DAY

Family Day is organized in collaboration with the Lahti branch of MLL . The program runs outdoors from 11 AM to 3 PM and is free for all. Activities include SäbäkipinäSirkus, MLL face painting, fan banner crafting, outdoor rinks and games, and a PAW Patrol Meet ‘n’ Greet.

FRI 10.5. NATIONAL CLUB DAY

The event focuses on networking, information, and top-level floorball. Club mascots are also welcome. The Club Day culminates in panel discussions covering floorball in Finland, internationalization, and coaching development, held before the Finland-Norway match in the evening. (Finnish only)

The Finland – Norway match is the charity match.

SAT 11.5. 3V3 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first ever 3v3 World Championships take place alongside the U19 World Championships in Lahti. The tournament brings together teams from around the world, with matches played in both women’s and men’s categories.

SUN 12.5. THE FINALS

The U19 World Championships conclude with the medal matches and celebrations – both for the U19 women’s teams and the 3V3 World Championships. In honor of Mother’s Day, Laitex Oy provides roses to all mothers.

HOST CITY AND ARENAS

With 120,000 inhabitants, Lahti is one of Finland’s largest cities. Lahti is famous as a winter sports city and internationally known for its environmental and design expertise and high-level cultural services. City of Lahti was awarded the title of European Green Capital 2021 as the first city in Finland. Learn more about the host city here.

The Lahti Sports and Fair Center hosts all U19 World Championship matches under one roof –  both Arena A and B located in the same facilities. Lahti city is allowing easy access by railways, public transportation or car. The Lahti Sports and Fair Center is just a short walk from the city center. The fastest train journey from Helsinki to Lahti takes only 49 minutes, and one can reach Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport from Lahti in an hour.
