The group ballot for the Women’s U19 World Floorball Championships 2024 was holded today during the Nordic Challenge event in Finland. All 16 participating countries have been set into groups A, B, C and D.

Sweden, Finland, Poland, and Norway are in the group B. Let’s learn more about these countries and their history in the floorball.

Sweden

Capital: Stockholm

Population: 10,540,886

The Swedish Floorball Federation was founded in 1981, and it is one of the countries that founded the International Floorball Federation in 1986. Team Sweden is the Champion from the last U19 WFC 2022 in Katowice, Poland, and also holds the historical top records with seven gold medals, two silver, and one bronze. Team Sweden also won the first-ever U19 WFC in Tampere 2004. In 2022 in Katowice, two Swedish players were elected to the All-Star Team: defender Hanna Modigh, SWE #27, and forward player Hanna Nordstrand, SWE #47.

Finland

Capital: Helsinki

Population: 5,614,571

The Finnish Floorball Federation was founded in 1985, and it has been one of the countries that founded the International Floorball Federation in 1986. In the last U19 WFC in Katowice, Poland, Finland placed third. In the whole history of WFC tournaments, Finland has won the Championship twice, placed second six times, and third twice. In the last WFC in 2022 in Katowice, defender Alma Laitila, FIN #2, was elected to the All-Star team.

Poland

Capital: Warsaw

Population: 38,036,118

The Polish Floorball Federation was founded in 1995, and they became an IFF member country a year later. Poland has organised 16 international floorball events in its history, with the last event being the U19 WFC tournament in Katowice 2022, where team Poland ended up in 6th place.

Norway

Capital: Oslo

Population: 5,488,984

The Norwegian Floorball Association was founded in 1991, and a year later they became an IFF member country. There are a total of 289 licensed Floorball Clubs in Norway. In the last U19 WFC in Katowice, Poland, team Norway placed 6th.
